Gather your smartest friends, family and colleagues and join us for a fundraiser to help end period poverty in our community.

Date? Wednesday, April 17th
Time? Doors open at 5:30 PM and trivia kicks off at 6:30 PM. 
Where? Hardywood Richmond, 2410 Ownby Lane
Cost? Playing trivia costs $25; hanging out is free!  
Eats? Pizza and beer will be for sale by Hardywood. 
Why? All proceeds will support menstruators affected by period inequity. One trivia ticket will keep EIGHT girls in school that month!

2023 Giving Tuesday: 300 Pad Kits for Ugandan Menstruators

UPDATE: THANKS TO YOUR GENEROSITY we will send 350 pad kits to students in Kirinda, Uganda. These kits will last them one year. You have ensured that 350 girls will receive an education in 2024. Thank you.

In 2013, a Ugandan woman named Sylvia asked for help keeping local girls in school while they were menstruating. Our founder, Jennifer, answered the call. Sylvia’s Sisters was born; we continue to support the community of Kirinda, Uganda, today.

Afripads is a 90% Ugandan-employed company creating reusable pad kits for girls and women.

Getting funding for international work is hard. Your contribution will help us purchase 300 Afripad kits. Each kit comes with 4 reusable pads and is made to last one menstruator for one year.

Sylvia will deliver the kits to an in-need school. She will also provide basic menstrual health education and instructions on how to care for their new reusable pads.

Sylvia’s Cyclones: Getting Active to Raise Money and Awareness

In order to bring awareness to our cause we decided to get moving! We started our very first biking challenge. As newbies to the non-profit “challenge” event we were needlessly nervous about its success. This event was so fun and energetic. Everyone upped their game doing many more miles and getting many more donations than expected! For next year, we may be expanding the event to include running or walking or any kind of activity you like. This event is all about personal challenges. You set your goal and make it happen!

We hope you will join us when we do it again in April 2022.
